(Above) This is us
leaving the house
cry, pictures of the
house cry would have
been disrespectful.
Dear those who
receive this email,
Today we
participated in a
PNG funeral, which
are called house
cries. The house cry
was for the father
of Christina, one of
the Bible college
students and house
girls of the
Bennetts. This is a
very rare event for
Americans to get to
observe, and it is
only because we have
gotten to know
Christina that we
went. We presented
her with a small
monetary gift from
the team. Here are
some of the
observations that
stuck out to us at
the house cry:
a. About 300
people, with
immediate family in
the center, and
spreading out
b. Man made a
speech about how our
coming to be a part
of it helped them to
open up to Tim and
Diane and their
message
c. Men singing
wailing songs
d. Wife waving
husband’s shirt in
the air
e. Wailing
turned on and off
for people coming in
and the speaking
f. Money and
food given publicly
to the family
In the
afternoon we went
and did a little
shopping and filming
of our short film.
Then tonight we
watched
Pirates of the
Caribbean
with the college
students and the
pastor and his
wife. Then tonight
Bethany came over
and spent the night
with the team. She
and the girls had
girl talk, I stayed
clear. Also there
were many
discussions today on
how good looking I
am and how amazingly
strong. Also, my
many skills were
discussed. Other
than this, the day
was pretty normal.
Mark for the rest of
the team . . . they
had all kinds of
input in this email
THE MINORITY
REPORT:
Dear Friends and
Family,
The girls of
the PNG team
would like to
make a
correction to
Mark’s email
update. There
was
talk of his
strength and
good looks...
but it was all
coming from
Mark, not us.
Thanks,
Lisette, Meg and
Stephanie
